Madhubala was born in Delhi. As a child, she was named Mumtaz Jehan Dehlvi. His parents were residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the immediate Pakistan. She was the fifth among 11 children of her parents.
In his early days, his father worked in a tobacco factory in Peshawar. After losing this job, his father first reached Delhi and then Mumbai, where Mumtaz i.e. Madhubala was born.
This time was very sad for this family. During this, three sisters and two brothers of Madhubala were killed in the ‘Doc Explosion’ in 1944.
Although his house was destroyed in this accident, but the survivors could only escape because they had gone to see a film in a local cinema.
Mumtaz’s six sisters and parents were among those who survived. After this, at the age of 9, his father started taking Mumtaz to various film studios in Bombay to get relief from Ghurbat’s life.
Mumtaz also started getting work and the family got some relief from poverty.

Madhubala started working for cinema since childhood. Madhubala’s first successful film was Basant in the year 1942.
This film became very successful and Madhubala came to be recognized from this film. Well-known actress Devika Rani was very impressed with Madhubala’s performance, she advised Mumtaz Dehlvi to work under the screen name of Madhubala.
Madhubala was cast opposite Raj Kapoor at the age of fourteen in the 1947 film Neel Kamal. This film was his last film under the name of Mumtaz.

This relationship was gradually getting stronger and at one point it came that both of them also celebrated Eid together, but Madhubala’s father did not approve of this relationship.
He forbade Madhubala to marry Dilip Kumar. Madhubala was very obedient to her father and in the end this relationship did not work out.

Later Madhubala got married to Kishore Kumar.
In 1960, Kishore Kumar converted to Islam to marry Madhubala and Kishore Kumar’s name became Kareem Abdul. Although Madhubala was not able to accept this marriage, but she could not refuse either.
At the same time, Madhubala was caught by a terrible disease. Kishore Kumar knew this, but no one had any idea of the depth of this disease. After marriage, both went to London for the treatment of this disease. There the doctor, looking at Madhubala’s condition, said that Madhubala can now survive for a maximum of two years.
After this, Kishore Kumar dropped Madhubala back at her father’s house saying that he cannot take care of Madhubala as he himself is often outside.
